The Savoy, An All-Suite Oceanfront Hotel in the Heart of South Beach

A Page in History

In the early Twentieth Century, Miami Beach was born out of coconut and avocado plantations in South Florida and quickly became known as an Atlantic City-style playground and winter retreat for the wealthy of the Northeast. In the 1920’s wealthy industrialists from the Northeast and Midwest began flocking down to South Florida to build their own winter retreats in the unique Art Deco style that features port hole windows, chrome accents and pastel coloring.  Today the Art Deco District features over 800 structures built from 1920 to 1943.

Since welcoming its first guests in 1935, The Savoy Hotel has set a standard for Miami Beach hospitality. Today’s Savoy Hotel brings together two historic structures, the Savoy Plaza – the original structure – and the Arlington – a former condominium building featuring studio condos that once housed Rolling Stone Ron Wood and other distinguished and famous guests. The Savoy Hotel has been listed on America’s National Register of Historic Places since 1979.
